China's 15th Five-Year Plan Redraws Export Specs

Your 2027 order will not match the spec you sign today. China's nine ministries have set 17 priority tasks for intelligent connected EVs. By 2030, new energy cars must hit 70% of domestic passenger sales, 40% of commercial. Export trims follow that baseline.

The plan ranks technology capability first of five priorities. Battery safety, charge rate, cold-weather range and cycle life all get targets. Chassis work aims at integrated drive, brake, steering and suspension. Beijing also pushes rules through WP.29, ISO and IEC.

Timing decides the money here. Horizon's Journey driving chips passed 15 million units, and its new cabin-driving chips enter mass production soon. A new platform drags diagnostics, parts and training with it. A framework priced only today leaves that refit bill with you.

Chinese brands sell into over 200 countries and build plants in more than 80. The new baseline reaches export trims, not just domestic ones. Sensors and chips may differ year by year, so stock planning gets harder. Local rivals receive the same upgrades, so no lead opens up.

Ask for three documents before signing any 2027 framework. First, the spec freeze date for your model and its next change year. Second, the autonomous feature approvals for your market; third, a parts commonality note. Request a landed cost for the trims you plan to order.
