Age limitUsed passenger cars must be no more than 3 years from the year of manufacture. Left-hand drive only. Euro 4 emissions are required (Euro 5 recommended; some sources cite Euro 5 as mandatory around 2027). Electric vehicles enter duty-free with no age cap cited.
Import duty & taxesUsed vehicles carry customs duty that scales with engine size and CIF (commonly cited around 40–60% for passenger cars under the 'Arab and foreign vehicles' tariff) plus 14% VAT and development levies. Electric vehicles are exempt from customs duty (0%) and pay 14% VAT. CargoX electronic document registration has been mandatory since 1 July 2021.

Which documents are required for the import?
Original invoice, bill of lading registered on CargoX, certificate of conformity, export certificate from the country of origin, passport, and proof of foreign residence for personal imports. All documents must match the VIN.
