Charger efficiency rules: bid on 10-year kWh, not peak power

The new charger efficiency standard means the peak power on a nameplate is the fastest way to lose money in a tender. GB 46519-2025 grades DC chargers: tier 1 at 96.5% or above, tier 2 at 95.5%, tier 3 at 94.5%, standby capped at 30W and 7W for AC. Tier 3 is the floor for market access.

Tenders break because they quote power only. 120kW is peak output, not annual energy; conversion loss and standby eat the rest. A unit that is clean at full load and drops to about 90% at half load does worse overnight than a tier 3 machine. That is why the standard grades a weighted curve, not one operating point.

Ten-year maths. One 120kW DC unit, tier 1 against tier 3, two points apart at 96.5% and 94.5%. Six hours a day at full power and USD 0.12/kWh adds about USD 630 a year. Ten years is USD 6,300, a 20-unit site about USD 126,000, more than any hardware discount you can win. Bid on the bill, not the plate.

Four items belong in writing. The bid must state the tier and the test method behind it. Acceptance needs a sampling rule: how many units, at which loads, on which analyser. Service must price degradation: one point lost in year three is charged to the owner. Market access is tightening.

Ask suppliers for three files: an efficiency report with the weighted curve, standby power with voltage and ambient temperature stated, and a three-year degradation curve. Get all three before you discuss price. Send a project list and we split landed cost, shipping and installation.

Frequently asked questions

What does solid-state battery mean for Chinese vehicle exports?
Solid-state batteries promise longer range, better safety and lower weight — a key variable for NEV exports. EZ Auto tracks production progress and overseas certification fit in the News section to help buyers time model upgrades.

What to watch with ADAS features for export?
Advanced driver assistance involves local regulation and data compliance. EZ Auto recommends only the assistance levels already approved in the destination and labels feature boundaries, avoiding over-promising.

Are Chinese NEV charging standards usable overseas?
Charging connectors and voltages differ by country (e.g. CCS2 in Europe, GB/T in China). EZ Auto recommends compatible models for your market or suggests in-car adapters.

Does over-the-air (OTA) update work overseas?
OTA depends on local networks and data compliance and is restricted in some markets. EZ Auto states OTA availability at delivery and points to offline maintenance and local service channels so features don't fall short.

Does the battery warranty remain valid after export?
Warranty usually follows the vehicle and the brand's global policy, but overseas service-network coverage varies. EZ Auto explains warranty scope and cross-border limits before closing the deal to avoid mismatched expectations.
