Philippines: only the Joyee S08 range-extender will sell

Range beats charging in the Philippines, which means only the S08 of the three will move. A 1,555 km combined range with 210 km of electric mode matches a market where fast chargers cluster in BGC and Makati and stop at the city edge. The S04 sells to buyers with a driveway, the N09 to early adopters.

FAW landed all three in Manila at once. S04: 565 km, 11.8 kWh/100 km, 0.248 Cd. S08: 1.5T hybrid, 210 km electric, 1,555 km combined, 3.9 L/100 km with a flat battery. N09: 800V, 6C charging, 6.4 seconds to 100 km/h, nine airbags. Philippine prices were not published, the biggest unknown for an importer.

At 2,000 km a month the S08 costs about PHP 5,400: 1,400 km electric at 18 kWh/100 km and PHP 12.5 a kWh, 600 km on petrol at 6.5 L/100 km and PHP 58 a litre. That is PHP 2.70 a km against PHP 5.50 for a 2.0 petrol Innova, a 51% saving, about 67,000 pesos a year.

Against the Innova Zenix hybrid at 5.5 L/100 km the saving drops to PHP 11,600 a year, so the S08 has to sit under the Zenix sticker: PHP 100,000 above it is 8.6 years to pay back. Grab and airport fleets at 7,500 km a month close that gap in five months, if they charge overnight at the depot.

Order the S08 first, in seven-seat form, and keep the N09 to a pilot in cities with 120 kW DC. Ask for right-hand-drive capacity confirmation with build months, a cycle-life report on the 6C pack at 120 kW, and the range-extender warranty with parts pricing. Check the Meralco demand charge before quoting a per-km rate.
